Bittersweet Shimmer – An exhibition about absence and presence

Sculpture/Installation

The works of Münster-based artist Anne Kückelhaus have a narrative quality. At first glance, they appear to be naturalistic depictions of animals. A closer look at her works reveals, however, that what is depicted cannot be merely animal stories; rather, they tell of humans and their coexistence with animals. In her ‘bittersweet-shimmer’ project, the artist examines the diverse connections between dogs and humans and weaves them into her drawings, installations and sculptural compositions. However, she is not interested in the directness of the narrative in the sense of an illustration, but rather in the unsettling complexity of a work of art that evokes the familiar and the known.
