Rachel Kohn (geboren 1962 in Prag) zeigt in einer dichten Installation diverse Ausformungen von Häusern und was unter ihren Dächern passiert. Das Gestaltspektrum reicht von kompakt kubischen und geschlossenen Elementen über amorphe bis hin zu durchbrochenen oder gänzlich offenen Komponenten. Mal ist ihre Anmutung lastend, mal schwebend. Die Gebilde treten vernäht, gänzlich verhüllt oder in Zerfall begriffen in Erscheinung. Manche halten ihren Inhalt, andere werfen ihn aus. Ihr Zeichenvorrat markiert das stabil Architektonische ebenso wie das Poetische. Es ereignen sich Leere und Fülle, Kommunikation und Schweigen. Die Bildhauerin verhandelt unsere Gegenwart, die aber weit hinein ins allgemein Menschliche und Archaische reicht. An den Wänden schwebende menetekelhafte Wortbilder öffnen neue Bedeutungsräume.

Rachel Kohn (born 1962 in Prague) shows various forms of houses and what happens under their roofs in a dense installation. The spectrum of shapes ranges from compact cubic and closed elements to amorphous and openwork or completely open components. Sometimes their appearance is weighty, sometimes floating. The structures appear sewn, completely covered or in a state of decay. Some hold their contents, others throw them out. Their stock of signs marks the stable architectural as well as the poetic. Emptiness and fullness, communication and silence occur. The sculptor deals with our present, which, however, extends far into the generally human and archaic. Menetekel-like word images floating on the walls open up new spaces of meaning.
