Das 2018 initiierte Lonka-Projekt (www.thelonkaproject.com) porträtiert Überlebende des Holocaust im Rahmen einer Fotografiewanderausstellung, die anlässlich des Gedenktages der Befreiung des Konzentrationslagers Auschwitz (27. Januar 1945) und der Opfer des Holocaust im Jahre 2021 erstmals in Berlin gezeigt worden ist. 300 der weltweit führenden Fotografinnen und Fotografen aus rund 30 Ländern haben für das Lonka-Projekt Holocaust-Überlebende in ihrem privaten Umfeld fotografiert und ein einzigartiges Gesamtwerk geschaffen. Mitgewirkt haben renommierte Fotokünstlerinnen und -künstler wie Gilles Peress, Douglas Kirkland, Steve McCurry, José Giribás, Kristian Schuller, Maurice Weiss, Lois Lammerhuber, Marissa und viele andere mehr.
Eine besondere Ausstellung in Zusammenarbeit mit der Bente Kahan Stimmung, Wrocław, von der die Fototafeln stammen, der Kuratorin des Lonka-Projekts in Deutschland, Gisela Kayser, Berlin, dem polnischen Dokumentarfotografen Grzegorz Litynski, Wrocław, dem wir die Ausstellung im Kunstverein verdanken, und der Akademie am Tönsberg e.V., Oerlinghausen, mit der ein Tagungsprogramm vorbereitet wurde.

The Lonka Project (www.thelonkaproject.com), initiated in 2018, portrays Holocaust survivors as part of a travelling photography exhibition that was shown in Berlin for the first time in 2021 to commemorate the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp (27 January 1945) and the victims of the Holocaust. 300 of the world’s leading photographers from around 30 countries have photographed Holocaust survivors in their private surroundings for the Lonka project and created a unique body of work. Renowned photographic artists such as Gilles Peress, Douglas Kirkland, Steve McCurry, José Giribás, Kristian Schuller, Maurice Weiss, Lois Lammerhuber, Marissa and many more took part.
A special exhibition in collaboration with the Bente Kahan Stimmung, Wrocław, from whom the photo panels originate, the curator of the Lonka project in Germany, Gisela Kayser, Berlin, the Polish documentary photographer Grzegorz Litynski, Wrocław, to whom we owe the exhibition at the Kunstverein, and the Akademie am Tönsberg e.V., Oerlinghausen, with whom a conference programme was prepared.
